Barca, PSG Duke it Out to Draw
The UEFA Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and FC Barcelona on Wednesday night, 10 March, was a mixed affair, but ultimately saw a score of 1-1 at Parc de Princes in Paris, France.
Kylian Mbappe enjoyed a stellar performance throughout play by not only putting the Parisians first up with a penalty at the 30th minute mark, but he also surpassed one of Lionel Messi’s records.
The 22-year-old forward has booted 25 goals in the entirety of the football competition, breaking Messi’s previous record – at age 22 years and 286 days – of being the youngest player to do so at 22 years and 80 days.
Messi dazzled as he responded with an equaliser for his side at the 37th minute.
Barca earned a penalty three minutes in stoppage time when Antoine Griezmann was downed by PSG defender, Layvin Kurzawa. However, Messi’s shot was deflected away, much like the Catalans’ second League comeback chances.
The draw means that PSG go through to the quarter-finals, based on a 5-2 aggregate.
